LEARNER PERMIT AND MORE

Teen Drivers

The Graduated Driver License (GDL) program is designed for teen drivers under 18 to gain experience behind the wheel. The program phases in driving privileges for new teen drivers through a Learner Permit and an Intermediate License.

CLASS D DRIVER LICENSE

Adult Drivers (18+)

An Oklahoma Class D Driver License is available to adults over 18 that pass their written, vision, and drive tests. A Class D License provides standard driving privileges.

Motorcycle Drivers

To operate a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle, you need to have an "L" endorsement on your current Oklahoma Driver License. If you do not have a current Oklahoma Driver License, you will have to apply for a Motorcycle Permit before receiving a motorcycle restricted license.

Are You REAL ID Ready?

Beginning May 7, 2025, a REAL ID compliant Driver License or ID Card,  or a valid federal identification document (i.e. U.S. Passport) will be required for you to fly within the U.S. or visit a federal facility.

Credentials typically arrive by mail 10-14 days after your visit. If it has been more than 30 days and you have not received your credential, please contact us for assistance.

If your online renewal or replacement application was not received by us or it has been denied or cancelled, you will receive a refund for the credential fee, less the credit card processing fee.

 

Note: A credit card refund may take up to 30 business days from the time you receive the refund confirmation email for the refund to be fully processed. Processing times may vary depending on your financial institution to reflect on your statement.

Yes, you can hold both an Oklahoma State ID card and an Oklahoma Driver License. A State ID card serves solely as a form of identification and does not offer driving privileges.

Oklahoma accepts valid and current international Driver Permits and Licenses if you are temporarily traveling through the state. However, if you intend to permanently reside in Oklahoma from another country, Oklahoma does not recognize international licenses or permits.
