Col. Brent Sugg was promoted to be the 28th Chief of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in September of 2019. Chief Sugg's employment with OHP began in March of 1999 when he joined the 51st Academy. Prior to becoming an OHP trooper, Chief Sugg worked as an officer with the Norman Police Department. Chief Sugg has excelled in several assignments across OHP during his twenty years as a Trooper. He has served as the commander of several different divisions, including the Emergency Services Unit, Training, Investigations and Troop A, which covers the Oklahoma City metro area, the largest field troop in the Highway Patrol.

Chief Sugg graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. He received his graduate degree from the University of Oklahoma graduating with a Masters of Arts in Administrative Leadership in 2018. Chief Sugg is a graduate of the 275th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia in 2019.
