Inmate escapes Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Taft

Thursday, July 05, 2018

TAFT, OK -- Thursday, July 5, an inmate housed at the Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Taft walked away from the prison at approximately 8 a.m.

A correctional officer witnessed Markus Perry run from the facility and go into a nearby wooded area.

DOC employees immediately contacted the local sheriff’s office and surrounding police departments. Employees also visited many residents living nearby.

State troopers and members of the Muskogee Creek Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police are also in the area searching. DOC and Tribal Police are using tracking dogs. The sheriff’s office brought out its drone.

It is highly possible Perry is hiding in a densely wooded area, which makes it difficult for law enforcement to search.

The 32 year old was serving a two year sentence for sexual abuse of a child under 12. He is 6’1” tall, weighs 180-pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. The conviction came out of Oklahoma County.

If you believe you know where Perry is hiding, immediately contact your local police department or the DOC escapee hotline at 405-425-2698. You can also email warrants@doc.ok.gov. All calls and emails are confidential.
