LARC escapee arrested in Arizona
Police in Phoenix, Arizona, have arrested an Oklahoma Department of Corrections inmate who escaped Saturday from the minimum security unit of Lexington Assessment and Reception Center.
ODOC Fugitive Apprehension and Investigations agents tracked Ronnie Henderson, DOC No. 454166, to a Super 8 in Phoenix. There, they contacted police, who responded immediately. They arrested Henderson around 6:30 p.m. as he was walking in a hallway of the motel.
"We are extremely thankful for the efforts tonight of the Phoenix Police Department, as well as our many other dedicated partners in law enforcement who always assist us when we have an escapee," said ODOC Director Joe M. Allbaugh.
"Additionally, our Fugitive Apprehension and Investigations agents did stellar investigative work to track Mr. Henderson to Phoenix."
Henderson was reported missing after a 6-p.m. count at LARC's Rex Thompson Minimum Security Unit.
He is serving a 40-year sentence for possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, eluding police, and manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance.
Henderson was reportedly surprised to find that law enforcement had tracked him to Phoenix.
