Jackie Brannon Correctional Center
Jackie Brannon Correctional Center (JBCC) is a minimum-security facility for men located on 1,506 acres in northwest McAlester. Established inside a former hospital 1927, JBCC's three housing units are home to more than 700 inmates.
JBCC began life as a trusty unit of Oklahoma State Penitentiary next door. It did not become a standalone institution until 1985. Agri-Services has a meat processing center, a dairy and milk processing center, an egg distribution center, a cow/calf operation, and a beef cattle operation at the facility.
The facility is named for former Oklahoma State Penitentiary Deputy Associate Warden Jackie Brannon.
Most inmates lack education, a key component in avoiding re-incarceration. JBCC offers literacy courses as well as Pre-High School Equivalency and High School Equivalency diplomas.
Substance Abuse Treatment
Nearly all state inmates have some form of substance abuse problem, and for many, that problem is closely related to their criminal behavior. To counteract this, JBCC's programming teaches inmates ways to avoid relapse and helps them develop cognitive, social, emotional and coping skills.
JBCC offers Thinking for a Change, Moral Reconation Therapy, and Associates 4 Success programs to address the thinking, judgment errors, and relationships linked with criminal thinking/behavior.
JBCC inmates can get technical training through a CareerTech Skills Center, which trains them for entering the workforce after prison. CareerTech also helps inmates find employment after release.
Inmates can receive mail at any time. Include their name, DOC number and housing assignment if known in the address.
