Minimum Requirements
• Applicants must be a citizen of the United States and possess a valid OK Driver License
• Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 45
• CLEET Certification is preferred, but not required
• Applicants may be subject to written, physical, and MMPI testing
• Applicants must pass a comprehensive medical examination and participate in the Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System
• Applicants must pass a background investigation and oral interview
• Applicants cannot have pending criminal charges and must not have had a DUI, DWI or Reckless Driving violation within the last five years.
• Applicants must be able to work all shifts (to include weekends and holidays) as needed and/or required
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Patrol and Presence
Patrol all areas of town to deter crime and promote safety through visibility and engagement.
Maintain regular contact with local businesses, schools, and residents to build trust and communication.
Respond proactively to suspicious activity, traffic concerns, and community complaints.
2. Calls for Service and Incident Response
Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
Investigate disturbances, accidents, and criminal offenses in accordance with department procedures.
Provide assistance to citizens in distress, including administering first aid or coordinating additional emergency services when needed.
3. Law Enforcement and Investigations
Enforce town ordinances, state laws, and traffic regulations.
Conduct preliminary investigations, gather statements, and collect and secure evidence.
Make lawful arrests and transport detainees safely and securely.
Testify in court when required.
4. Traffic and Safety Enforcement
Conduct traffic enforcement to promote safe driving and reduce accidents.
Investigate motor vehicle crashes, complete reports, and ensure roadway safety.
Assist with road closures, parades, school crossings, and special events.
5. Documentation and Reporting
Complete accurate and timely reports on incidents, arrests, and daily activities.
Maintain proper documentation for evidence, property, and citations.
Use department technology (ODIS, body-worn cameras, etc.) responsibly and in compliance with policy.
6. Community Engagement and Public Relations
Represent the department in a professional and approachable manner.
Participate in community programs, school visits, and local events.
Educate the public on crime prevention, safety, and department initiatives.
7. Professional Development and Readiness
Maintain required training and certifications, including firearms qualification, de-escalation, and mental health awareness.
Stay updated on changes in state law and departmental procedures.
Maintain physical and mental readiness to respond to critical incidents.
8. Teamwork and Support
Work collaboratively with fellow officers, dispatchers, and command staff to ensure continuous town coverage.
Assist other officers and outside agencies when needed, especially during high-risk or violent incidents.
Support the reserve and part-time officers to maintain department unity and effectiveness.
Salary/Compensation
$19.00 an hour starting pay (step raises each year) 2 weeks paid vacation after first year

Take home patrol car if living within 15 miles of town limits (as crow flies) Standard issued Glock 34 MOS Handgun, Holster, and magazines Standard issued patrol rifle
