Minimum Requirements
- Be willing to complete up to 14-week Field Training Program;
- Be 21-years old;
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States;
- Have a high school diploma or GED;
- Pass a written exam;
- Successfully pass a drug screening examination;
- Take the MMPI psychological examination prior to being commissioned;
- Meet the standards of the Canadian County Sheriff's Office weapon proficiency;
- Pass a thorough background check; and
- Meet identity requirements as required by law.
Key Responsibilities
- The Sheriff's Office is responsible for providing law enforcement services to the citizens of Canadian County. The Patrol Division is the largest and most visible division of the Sheriff's Office. Providing 24/7 coverage, the Patrol Deputy is responsible for responding to calls for service, traffic enforcement, assisting other agencies within the county, and other duties as assigned.
- The Canadian County Sheriff's Office will train and equip deputies sufficient to meet the response needs of the sheriff's office. These deputies will adhere to, and be accountable for all sheriff's office policies, rules and regulations, standard operating procedures, and local, state and federal laws.
- The largest division at the Canadian County Sheriff's Office, the Patrol Division, and is responsible for patrolling 906 square miles. The Patrol division provides 24 hours a day law enforcement to Canadian County inhabitants. We have an estimated population of 150,000. Canadian County is one of the fastest growing counties in Oklahoma.
- The patrol division spends much of their efforts patrolling the unincorporated areas of Canadian county. They emphasize patrolling outside of municipal areas that have their own police department. However, sometimes they are requested by county residents for services for which we will respond.

Starting Salary for a Step 1 Deputy Sheriff in 2025 is $55,920.00/year plus benefits. Benefits include:
