It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year…..not Christmas……not my birthday……even better!!! It’s a four-day weekend AND the start of football season!! I’m sure you can’t wait to cheer on your favorite team either! Or float the river, ski at the lake or just enjoy some well-deserved rest! Here’s wishing you a great one!

- Student emails for HOSA-when you affiliate your students as HOSA members, if it is at all possible, please include their individual PERSONAL email address-----not yours. Over the last year when we have tried to send students HOSA information (testing, conference, etc.), many students did not receive the important emails. Please do not use the same email (typically the advisor) or their school email for all your members.
- Ever look for a tool to help you align your students’ aptitude with the perfect career? - Modern Technology in the classroom is here to stay! Here is a brief list of five main reasons modern technology is overtaking the traditional classroom:

Teachers' Guide to Critical Thinking | REBOOT FOUNDATION (reboot-foundation.org) Every minute of life in the modern world, we are confronted with information and misinformation, advertising and distractions, complexity and ambiguity. Making sense of it all — distilling it, separating the important from the trivial — requires skill, patience, and practice. It requires, in brief, critical thinking. Yet we largely do not teach our children how to do it. Reboot’s new guide contains, among other things, resources for teaching critical thinking to students of all ages, in any subject, including math, science, literature, civics, writing, and philosophy. The Guide — written with teachers, for teachers — is an invaluable resource for teaching students the skills they need to be engaged and informed global citizens.
- Modern tech brings improved pupil/teacher interaction. The number of new tech tools can stimulate real-time teacher interaction with their students. This is particularly the case with kindergarten/elementary school students where the use of online or other educational games for kids brings excellent results.
- The teaching efficiency increases. For example, the days of chalk and chalkboards are more or less gone. Teachers can now use efficient tools to create new and import existing lessons and make them more accessible to students.
- Students are more inspired to learn. While traditional textbooks will not go away (yet), students are now more receptive to tech advances such as augmented reality, virtual reality, gamification, and 3D printers.
- Grading students has become more efficient and personalized. In the traditional classrooms, teachers spend hours marking students, often having to do that during their free time. With recent developments in grading tools, they can do it quickly and easily. They also can grade and collate responses in real-time, during the class itself.
- Students can learn more during the class hour. With new technology, schools can now enable students to watch lectures outside the classroom. They can then complete corresponding tasks during school hours. Teachers can then better help with answering questions.

- Over the last few days Google Workspace has released a number of interesting updates to some of its services. the new added features are meant to enhance the workflow of these services and boosts users productivity. Historically, Career Technical Education (CTE) has systematically upheld barriers to each learner accessing and being successful in the career preparation ecosystem. With Without Limits: A Shared Vision for the Future of Career Technical Education (CTE Without Limits) and the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) placing an intentional focus on historically minortized communities, economically disadvantaged learners and learners with special population status, state CTE leaders have a responsibility to engage in anti-racist conversations between all levels of stakeholders to advance equitable CTE policies and practices.
Today, Advance CTE released Brave Dialogues: A Guide to Discussing Racial Equity in Career Technical Education to provide state CTE leaders with tools to become better equipped and motivated to begin and continue discussions that right the wrongs in CTE and to support state CTE leaders in creating an environment in which their state teams, local intermediaries, business partnerships and policymakers have the language and comfort to discuss challenges and opportunities related to racial equity in CTE.
Through six sessions ranging from 60 to 90 minutes, this guide will walk participants of brave dialogues through readings, videos and other work that allow participants to become aware, gain the knowledge and develop skills to support critical self-reflection.
